Running for Office 101 December 9th, 2013

Clients ask me all of the time, am I doing the things I have to do to win on Election Day? Usually they aren’t. If you ask 20 different campaign professionals, what is the most efficient way to run a campaign, you will get 20 different answers. There have been a lot of great campaigns that have lost on Election Day and there have been a lot of bad campaigns that have won on Election Day. It all comes down to having the right message, letting people know why they should vote for you and getting more votes than your opponent!

The most important question a candidate needs to answer is “Why are you running?” If you don’t know this, then you should just stop the campaign now. The reason can be as small as you want more stop signs in your neighborhood or as big as you want to change the way the local/state/national government is run. But you have to believe that you can solve the problems that you are addressing. If you don’t have faith in yourself and your campaign message, then you probably won’t win the election.
